Central to Nayan Kulkarni's work are ideas of site specificty, time, technology and perception. These ideas are manifested through diverse media; installation, video, computer contolled artificail lighting and sculpture.

Crucial to Kulkarni's practice is his ongoing material, technological and concept driven research which is enlightened by architectural, film and photographic theory as well as politics and contemporary/historical science fiction.

The scope of Kulkarni's projects include temporary installations, landscape based sculptural and light interventions, photographic explorations, integrated interventions in the public realm and art elements of urban design frameworks, lighting strategies and public art strategies.
